A rare find on the city’s famed Melrose Avenue, Palihotel is a 32-room boutique property that combines a chic and sophisticated European sensibility with a layer of quirky, creative elements that have become synonymous with the “Pali” brand.
Envisioned as a “European neighborhood inn,” Palihotel offers hotel guests and locals a stylish yet affordable departure from the typical hotel experience and otherwise presents a new destination that is well aligned with the area’s unique point of view. Originally built as a senior’s living residence in the late 1960s, the property’s guest rooms are each approximately 250 square feet, many with private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows, and come in Twin and/or Queen categories. Every guest room is alike in design and amenities.
Palihotel features Palikitchen, opening in late February, a Paligroup owned and operated coffee shop-inspired café that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual well-appointed self-service format. Menu items include an artisanal coffee bar and homemade comfort foods such as baked goods, milkshakes, smoothies, soups, salads, toasted sandwiches (“toasties”) and more.
The property also features a six-bed Thai massage spa as well as a blowout salon open to both hotel guests and the public, which will debut in March. A leafy outdoor courtyard anchors the center of the building, with seating and lounge areas.
Palihotel’s design concept, courtesy of Paligroup’s founder Avi Brosh, incorporates a mix of different styles and eras and combines various finishes and many original details in a non-formulaic manner. Walls throughout are a deep, dark green, custom-made furniture adorns every area of the property, and rich guest room fabrics mingle with brass, cork and rustic details. In-room products are signature to the brand, and minibars are well appointed with fare from Dean & Deluca and more.
