The newly-opened Hotel Indigo® Los Angeles Downtown announces a partnership with Cartwheel Art, bringing to life the hotel’s storytelling design through immersive walking tours of Downtown Los Angeles. Featuring five different itineraries, curated exclusively for the hotel, Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown Tours, in partnership with Cartwheel Art, offers guests and locals the opportunity to discover the lesser-known stories of the surrounding neighborhood.

The hotel’s striking interiors, conceived by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), are inspired by the 1920’s Prohibition Era, infusing elements from the city’s underground speakeasies and network of underground tunnels hidden beneath the city streets, the budding Hollywood movie industry, Jewelry District, historic Chinatown, and more. These curated Cartwheel Art itineraries seek to bring to life these themes by connecting what guests and locals see in the newly opened hotel to the surrounding neighborhood – past and present.

Cartwheel Art creates customized itineraries for private and public groups throughout Los Angeles, which are led by talented Cartwheel Art guides, who have a deep knowledge and passion for the city’s history. With each tour theme playing off a different storyline of Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown’s design, these immersive itineraries showcase various art, music, food, nightlife, and historic landmarks that make up the City of Angels. Striving to support local artisan businesses, Cartwheel Art has handpicked each tour stop to provide a local perspective and cultural experience for guests.

The hotel’s signature tour, “Underground LA,” provides a captivating way to see the city’s famed underground tunnels and speakeasies that are unbeknownst to most and learn about the city’s “underground” past ranging from famous prohibition-era murders to the famous speakeasy haunts that Hollywood elite would frequent. Playing off the interior elements of the hotel’s signature restaurant Metropole Bar + Kitchen, which include tunnel-shaped booths as well as a jazz band mural reminiscent of a forbidden party during the Prohibition Era, this tour will take guests under the busy streets of Los Angeles to discover century-old tunnels and speakeasies alongside more modern interpretations of the city’s hidden watering holes.
