Go Glamping at Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport

Sandy Pines Campground tent interior

Located minutes from Goose Rocks Beach in charming Kennebunkport, Sandy Pines Campground provides an experience that is authentically Maine, embodying the best of the Pine Tree State’s coast – ocean views, salty breezes and a small-town ambiance.

Kennebunkport hoteliers Tim Harrington and Debra Lennon have unveiled their first venture into the great outdoors, Sandy Pines Campground. Sandy Pines caters to every type of camper with stay options ranging from park model ‘tiny homes’ and safari-style glamping tents designed by 12 New England designers to newly renovated tent and RV sites, with full hook-ups. Regardless of guests’ preferred accommodations, each reservation comes with ocean breezes and elevated amenities infused with nostalgic New England charm.

At the center of the Sandy Pines experience is the beautifully designed Grand Lodge, the ‘neighborhood’ hub of activity that is also home to the rustic General Store and fully-stocked with essentials including a section dedicated solely to s’mores. Also near the Grand Lodge is Kids’ Kamp, a kids’ activities center with arts & crafts, classic board games and outdoor adventures. Regularly hosted social events like lobster bakes, ice cream socials and live outdoor music ensure guests can meet their neighbors, make new friends & memories and easily join the campground community.

Other Sandy Pines amenities include a snack bar with old fashioned ice cream bars; park-wide Wi-Fi; rentable bikes, kayaks & standup paddleboards; heated saltwater pool; playground; and outdoor games like giant Jenga, bocce, badminton and volleyball.

Sandy Pines’ accommodation options ensure every guest is a happy camper. Those who don’t want to rough it while enjoying the outdoors can rent one of the 12 safari-style glamping tents (starting from $174 a night). Each was created by a New England designer to be one-of-a-kind with unique features such as four-post beds, child-friendly teepees and antique furnishings.  Every 16’ x 24’ tent includes well-appointed sleeping & living spaces complete with bedding, seating, furnishings, lighting and decor.

Traditional campers can choose one of the 100 tent sites, each with its own fire pit & picnic table, and pitch their own tent for just $30 a night. Guests without gear can add the Coleman Experience to their reservation and arrive to a site that’s fully outfitted and set up with high-quality gear from ‘the outdoor company.’

Sandy Pines welcomes road warriors to their 150 newly renovated RV sites, ranging in size and features, but all include access to electric & water hookups as well as fire pits & picnic tables. Sites begin at $55 per night with full hook-ups.

Travelers who fall in love with Sandy Pines and want to stake their claim to a more permanent piece of paradise can purchase a customizable park model RV (starting at approximately $100K). These charming ‘tiny homes’ feature the modern conveniences of a home packaged into a cozy 650 square feet. The models come with a spacious addition and are fully furnished with high-end kitchens, full bathrooms, air conditioning and heating.
