KAI Alps – New Luxury Ski Resort Opening in Japan’s Nagano Region

Hoshino Resorts will reopen KAI Alps, a hot spring ryokan in northern Nagano — the stunning gateway to the northern Japanese Alps – on December 21, 2017. KAI Alps has been closed for extensive renovations since March of 2016 and will be unveiling several new features upon reopening.

The grand reopening will feature two buildings with 48 rooms and a brand-new concept of experiencing the healing and rejuvenating hot springs of the Shinshu countryside. Classical Japanese architectural elements provide comfort even during heavy snow, making it the perfect après-ski retreat from which to experience Nagano’s alpine scenery and the pristine ski slopes of nearby Hakuba.

Just a 30 minute complimentary shuttle from the property, KAI Alps provides a private lounge for hotel guests at the Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort, as well as well as a ski and snowboard locker room at the hotel.

After a long day on the slopes, relax in the men or women’s indoor or outdoor hot spring baths, and enjoy traditional Japanese kaiseki meals which are included in the stay. Finish the night by warming up with some tea in the courtyard which is decorated with cherry blossoms and verdant greens in warmer seasons, and with traditional snow domes known as kamakuras in the winter.
