Snow Sauna, Northern Lights, Yoga and Dogsledding Holidays

Arctic Glass Igloos in Rovaniemi

Arctic travel and Northern Lights specialists Off the Map Travel announce new winter wellness and Northern Lights holidays in Finnish Lapland featuring the world’s only snow sauna; dog sledding and yoga; and accommodations in a glass igloo, a snow room and log cabins.

Snow Sauna and Search for the Northern Lights from a Glass Igloo or Snow Room

Guests can now experience rest and relaxation in the world’s first sauna made from snow at the Arctic SnowHotel and Glass Igloos in Rovaniemi. In this one-of-a-kind sauna experience, guests are enveloped by an instant cloud of steam, resulting from the contact between the sauna’s 1.5 meters-thick snow walls and the heat from the sauna’s stove. The result is a steam-room like effect with cleansing benefits for both mind and body.

Guests will also enjoy the snow-and-ice architecture of the hotel, a stay in a glass-roofed igloo with uninterrupted views of the Arctic night sky; a stay in a room made entirely of snow with drinks at the ice bar, as well as a traditional Finnish sauna and dip in an outdoor hot tub under the Arctic sky. All itineraries can be customized to add activities such as dog sledding and snowmobiling.

A sample three-night/four-day itinerary costs from £1199 per person based on double occupancy, and includes breakfast, airport transfers in Finland, two nights’ accommodation in a glass-roofed igloo and one night in a snow room in the SnowHotel, the snow sauna, a traditional Finnish sauna, and outdoor hot tub.

Practice Downward-Facing Dog in a Yoga and Dog Sledding Holiday

While goat yoga and even cat yoga have been the rage this year, the pureness of yoga combined with dog sledding with Siberian huskies offers a wellness-oriented twist to feed your body and soul in a beautiful and tranquil Arctic setting. The program of Yin and Ashtanga yoga is suitable for all levels and is conducted in a yoga shala (house) on the shore of the lake. Yoga is followed by a sleigh ride with a team of Siberian huskies taking the lead.

Guests stay at the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge in Rovaniemi in log cabin accommodations. Traditional Scandinavian dinners, Northern Lights adventures and log fire gatherings add to the experience. A three-night/four-day program is priced starting at £1189 per person based on double occupancy and includes some meals, airport transfers in Finland, yoga and dog sledding.

“The Northern lights are the top of many travel bucket lists and for good reason: experiencing them is humbling and almost spiritual and that’s why we are dedicated to bringing new and excited ways for our guests to enjoy this natural wonder for themselves,” says Jonny Cooper, Aurora travel expert and owner of Off the Map Travel. “The team has pulled together new culinary, therapeutic and high-octane adventure experiences which are both luxurious and distinctive.”
